Projects in Manxx

The two main projects in Manxx currently are the paving of the clay streets of Manxx and the application of Milina for complete local autonomy.

Albeit famous, the city council has come to the conclusion that the streets, apart from being dirty and muddy during the rainy season, do not bestow Manxx with the correct images, it deserves. That is why a brick-making factory is being built in the outskirts north of Manxx. The bricks will be made of the same clay which the streets currently are made of, thus leaving the same general appearance, but as these bricks will be burnt hard, the general consistency of the roads will be greatly improved. As these bricks are more durable than the earlier pavement, costs will be reduced in maintenance. Travel on these roads will be much more comfortable and the wear on wagons and the like will be greatly reduced. An estimation of about 5 years is planned for the complete paving of Manxx. Afterwards, the paving of the road to Milina will begin, as well as the road to the mines. If all these projects prove succesful, the rest of the roads in the county will be paved. We hope to gain a trade advantage through speedier and safer transportation of goods, expanding our position as trade hub in the southwest.

A further advantage of paved roads would be the decrease of access time from the mountain ranger garrisson near Milina to the Border at Manxxian Springs. This would provide adequate security to Manxxian Springs, without having to establish a garrisson or even transfer military authority to The Empire.

Milina, the second major town in the County of Manxx, has applied for local autonomy, wanting to decide over it's own distribution of goods and tax collection, guild control and security. Sir Bohfrey is currently parleying with the high priest of Grork in Milina as well as members of the trade guilds there. Milina, being the main agricultural producer in Manxx since the turn of the century has become increasingly difficult to rule from Manxx due to the complexity of the growing town. The only fear we have, is that many smaller towns which do not have the military and economic power to survive alone, would follow. Still, we believe that an autonomous Milina would improve the economic situation in the county - distributing more wealth more fairly to more citizens.
