County Info
The County of Manxx had it's last census just recently. We gathered the following information:
| Population:
Total: 42,357 Racial Breakup: Human: 26,685 (63%) Comment: Because most of the Manxxians are emigrants from Rastock, the human population has remained predominant. What is curious, is that the halfling population is almost double of the feline. This is due to the immense advantages provided by Manxx and the four Thieves' Guilds in Manxx Town. Geographic Breakup: Town of Manxx: 20,315 (48%) Comment: Manxx has become a predominant urban county due to the effect of trade. The bulk of all movement goes through Manxx and Milina with Tureth and Caspetia Siber being border towns, living off the flux of travellers. There still is great room for new establishments, but the last 150 years have been quite calm, with the population increase being near nil. Religious Breakup: Grork:7,624 (18%) Comment: The faith of Grork is predominant in Manxx. Cattar and Trola come in second, Cattar because it is the predominant faith on the continent and Torla, due to the great insight of the Torlian High Priestess shortly before the Derelius Plague swept the east coast. The only mentionable evil faith is Rax, as it is the only legal evil shrine in Manxx. Other underground evil shrines are believed to exists and possibly quite a few meet in Rax's Temple. The large amount of other/unknown faiths are due to the fact that many worship saints or avatar appearances of Grork. |
Area:
Incl. Calliak Forest: ca. 608,200 km² Without Calliak Forest: ca. 273,700 km² Until the First Freemen War, Manxxian troops frequently patrolled the Calliak Forest. Small settlements were also established and many small lumbering firms had set themselves up there. The new Imperial policy to safeguard it's lands more strictly has made the Manxxian government retreat. All that has definately remained in Manxxian hands are the Manxxian Springs and the Druid's Grove. The forest still is patrolled, with permission of the Empire, but no longer are settlers in the forest granted protection by Manxx and may be expelled by will by the Empire. The southwestern road out of Manxx still is heavily patrolled by the Manxxian government, to be able to protect caravans and travellers, but it also must be said that since the Empire retook the Calliak, it has become a safer place. Manxx has been able to reduce the amount of troops patrolling that area greatly as the main burden has been taken by the empire.
Transportation: The number of roads in Manxx has increased in the last few years, due to the ever-increasing amount of trade on a north-south-axis which goes through the Blue Sun Mountains. There are four main roads in the county, all leading to and from Manxx. The Northwestern one heads to the northwestern coast to Port Bengal; the southwestern one to Leonce, Destone, and Plaintlan; the southern one to Port Serval; and the eastern one to Catalania. There are also roads to Port Ocelot via Salfe Dorsa and Cellesse and Felineo (which branch off the eastern road). Most roads in Manxx are of a red clay of which to ground in the northern valley is composed of. A current plan is to pave these roads which cobblestones. The roads leading to the small towns and villages are dirt roads and are often in a horrible state, specially after heavy rainfall. No steps have been taken as of yet to improve these conditions. Military: The Manxx army employs approximately 1,000 soldiers, half of draft age, serving their country for one year. The other 500 troops are professionaly soldiers, which are government employees. In times of dire straits, the county can summon a militia which exceeds 5,000. For personal protection, the Argion Clan (now under the Bohfrey Clan) has another 150 soldiers which are considered elite but do not take part in the active military life of Manxx. Moreover they accompany nobles on travels, guard the palace and other official buildings. |
